Site Launch: Marylebone Journal
The Marylebone Journal is a magazine for the London district which now also publishes online.
Gravitywell wanted to design a site based on the "browsing" concept that we have with physical magazines. We noted that users don't use contents pages or indexes to find specific articles, they just dive straight in and flick through pages. Then they move on, often picking the next page at random.
The result is a revolutionary and responsive site which abandons all the usual navigational clichés. Content flows forever and users make their own paths through the website, in theory forever! New relevant content is suggested at each click and the site attempts to learn what the user is more interested in. Articles are not date sensitive and so do not need to be presented in chronological order.
The user can focus on specfic subjects (e.g. food, style) or article types (e.g. interview, feature) but we'll always add something different to pique their curiosity.
Marylebone Journal has been very exciting to develop and we're very pleased with the result. We're also very grateful for the opportunity to work with such an open-minded and forward-thinking client!
