Another Round

The brainchild of ex-professional MMA fighter turned fitness tech entrepreneur, Max Cotton, Another Round is an online personal training platform that embraces cutting-edge technology (including AI) to revolutionise how, when and where people exercise.

Founded pre-pandemic in 2018, startup Another Round is designed to stop a busy life from being a barrier to training — to help make fitness fun and achievable — so users can smash their goals and get fit for life.

Max and his team approached Gravitywell to build the Another Round mobile app, which needed to be user-friendly, performant and look great, providing trainers and users with a platform like no other.

Challenges, Key Features and Benefits

The existing competition was plagued with clunky interfaces, making it time-consuming for coaches to create workouts and difficult for members to navigate. We needed to address these shortcomings so we set about designing software that would be intuitive and easy to use, eliminating the barriers to training that a busy life can present.

One of the key features we developed was the workout builder for coaches. This tool empowers coaches to craft personalised workouts for Another Round members quickly and effortlessly. We focused on creating an intuitive drag-and-drop interface, enabling coaches to easily design bespoke workouts alongside member feedback to ensure the workout is safe, fun and effective.

For members, we provided a mobile experience that would enhance their training journey by presenting workouts in an easy, simple format. Members could now focus their attention where it mattered, rather than being distracted navigating multiple clunky mobile apps and interfaces.

We implemented tools to further improve the experience such as one-tap timers, feedback sliders, instant chat for coach advice and more.

What’s next?

Another Round has received a six-figure investment from Pure Gym founder and former CEO Peter Roberts to accelerate its rapid growth. Joining Roberts, Jacques de Bruin (ex-COO of Pure Gym) and other ex-senior Pure Gym team members have also invested in the platform.

An additional £300K was secured in Another Round's latest fundraise, including investment from angels and its community.

Going forward, the tech startup plans to capitalise on the growth of the online fitness market — projected to hit $79.87 billion in 2026 — and will use the money raised to build a team of coaches and advance its product capabilities. Already appointed is Jesse Shanahan, former Technical Lead of Applied AI at Peltarion, as CTO.

Another Round has been featured in publications such as The Metro, Maddyness, Health Tech World and the Evening Standard.
