Olympic Torch (Small)

On Tuesday, 22 May, 2012 Bristol will host the Olympic Flame as it enters the city on day four of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay.

The London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay, which started on Saturday, 19 May from Lands End in Cornwall, makes its 70-day journey around the UK. It covers approximately 8,000 miles before it arrives in London at the Olympic Stadium.

Where will you find the Olympic Torch?

The torch arrives in Bristol on Tuesday 22nd at around 5:50pm on the A431. It will head towards the Amphitheatre. Once it gets into the centre it will pass through Castle Park around 18:45, travel by Welsh Back, over Redcliff Way bridge around 18:55 then by Redcliffe and Phoenix Wharf (Right by my house, I might add!). It will then get on a boat opposite The Ostrich and stop at the Amphitheatre.

On Wednesday the torch will then start at 5:55am at the College Green. It will follow the A370 re-entering Bristol over the Suspension Bridge and leave through Southmead around 9am.

Is a map available?

There is, you'll find it here: http://maps.bristol.gov.uk/pinpoint/?service=localinfo&theme=torchrelay

Pro Tip: Click the red line on the map - It will tell you the time the torch is expected to pass this point.

I will take some pictures, maybe a video and update this post next week after the torch has been through Bristol.
